Issue by Sonik: Canada vs the U.S? Which is better?
I was taking into consideration transferring, someplace close, yet kinda much away from property. Given that Canada’s just up the border, what’s it like?

What is it like politically, hows the education system, the healthcare program, the culture, the folks. What’s their view on immigration, the GLBT group, big difference races and cultures, would they pepper spray someone for a more affordable XBOX 360?. Are they american immigrant friendly?

One thing like that, more info about it would be great. I have never been out of Colorado in my daily life so one thing like which is kinda frightening however fascinating =)

What is actually their check out on immigration, the GLBT local community, difference races and cultures, would they pepper spray an individual for a less costly XBOX 360?.

Of course. Wait around for Boxing Working day and slipping temperatures. Canadians never use pepper, rather they dont take away snow on the roads, so that men and women can slip and tumble flat on the ice. You need to have to know ice skating for snatching a more affordable XBOX 360..

What do you consider? Response underneath!

Everyone views everything differently. Many Canadians love their healthcare system. It persoanlly would scare me. Culturally, it seems the Canadian immigrant proportions aren’t similar to those in the US. The US has a lot of immigrants from Latin America. In Canada, it seems to be less Latin America and more Chinese and Indian.

And one person pepper spraying doesn’t denote an entire country anymore than one bus passenger beheading and eating a fellow passenger or a shooting in Toronto on Boxing Day would denote Canada.

Canada has many similarities to the US. In some ways, you’d barely know you’re in another country. In other ways, it’s very different. I’m generalizing, before someone jumps all over me for misrepresenting, but I’d say Canadians are more liberal, more open, less prejudiced, more accepting of differences. There are exceptions of course, but no one I know could care less what someone else’s sexual orientation is. Just not an issue. There are lots of former Americans up here. You guys don’t particularly stand out and people don’t care that much where you came from. You are you, not an entire country.

There’s a lot of cultural and racial diversity in Canada but not many black people, compared to the US.

Our health care is not perfect but a damn sight better than what many Americans have, which is none unless they are reasonably well off. Canadians tend to believe that we’re all a bit responsible for everyone else’s welfare. Americans are more likely to think that it’s just too bad if you can’t pay for health care.

The education system is just fine.

Would a Canadian pepper spray someone to get the cheaper XBOX? Oh, maybe, but we’re a lot less likely to pull a gun on someone over one.

Why don’t you try visiting? It can be a difficult and lengthy process to get approved for immigration, but there’s no way to tell if you’d like to give it a shot if you’ve never been here.

It doesn’t matter because the immigration process would take you a minimum of three years before you could get your immigrant status approved.

    Canada’s better.

It’s rated as being and having:

    -The world’s best advanced economy.
    -The world’s soundest banking system.
-The only G7 nation fully recovered from the global financial crisis & recession.
-The world leader in educational attainment.
    -The world’s most tolerant country.
    -The world’s friendliest nation.
    -The world’s most welcoming country.

Canadians have the world’s 2nd highest Quality of Life.
    (Australia’s currently #1.)
Canada has three of the world’s top five cities: Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary.
    (The other two are Australian.)

    Canada’s also rated as being:

-One of the world’s 10 safest countries.
-One of the world’s 10 most peaceful nations.
-One of the world’s 10 happiest countries.
-One of the world’s 10 least corrupt nations.
-One of the world’s 10 freest countries.
-One of the world’s Triple A credit rating nations.

And Canada rates better than the US in all those categories.
    Also in comparison to Americans:

-Canadians are healthier and live years long. (due to Canada’s universal healthcare system.)
-Canadians pay fewer taxes per person.
-Canadians are wealthier. (Canada has a higher median net worth per capita than the US.)
-Canadians have lower-cost but equal-quality higher education.

Canada’s more economically, politically and societally stable than the US.
    Canada’s a kingdom: a constitutional monarchy & parliamentary democracy.
That system of governance has additional checks and balances on political power & abuse that the US lacks, with the result that Canada’s less politically polarized/radicalized than the US.
Canada also has 3 main political parties and multiple smaller ones so there’s more choice than just US-style Democrat or Republican limitations.

Canada’s a universal healthcare nation where care is prepaid by taxation.
(Meaning no co-pays, deductibles, doctor’s bills, paperwork to fill out, or any of the other hassles US patients endure.)
Canadians are covered everywhere both in or outside of Canada too, by the way.
(Meaning no being restricted to “authorized providers” like US health insurers do to Americans.)
And Canadians are covered – by law – for all medically-necessary care: pre-natal, preventive, primary, diagnotic and follow-up without limit or limitation.
With medical necessity determined solely by doctors & hospitals, not government.

Canadians, as previously stated, are the most tolerant nation on the planet.
Meaning the most tolerant country in the world towards immigrants & GLBTs:

“At 84 per cent on average, Canadians report the highest community tolerance of minority groups—ethnic minorities, migrants, and gays and lesbians—in the OECD, where the average is 61 per cent.” – http://www2.macleans.ca/2011/04/12/canadians-are-the-most-tolerant-people-in-the-developed-world-report/
Canada’s had legal gay marriage for years, and gays in the military for years too.
Hell, there’s even been gay marriage in the military – http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2005/06/14/militarygaywedding0614.html

    As for immigrants in general:
For decades Canada’s had the highest per capita immigration rate on Earth.
Like the US, Canada’s an immigrant founded & immigrant driven nation.
Unlike the US, Canada doesn’t insanely persecute & scapegoat its immigrants.
Canada was the first country to implement Multiculturalism as official national policy.
    Diversity is a strength that’s made Canada a success – http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/opinions/opinion/multiculturalism-has-been-canadas-solution-not-its-problem/article1775471/

Canadians are culturally similar yet more laid back & relaxed than Americans.
(Possibly because yet more studies found Canadians have more sex more frequently.)

Best advice is that you take a vacation and visit.
Because in addition to all the other stuff, Canada’s geographically larger than the US but has a far smaller overall population.
So there’s far more beautiful and unspoiled scenery to enjoy as well.

Canada and US are both great countries but obviously as a Canadian i would say my country is better
    1. Free healthcare (i don’t get why some americans hate it but in reality some people can’t afford it and go bankrupt so it is a good thing)
    2. One of the best education systems in the world (beats US by miles)
    3. gay marriages have been welcomed in all all of canada since PM Trudeau
    4. Drake
    5. Economy’s doing good
    6. nice people that help each other out
    7. Multiculturalism is encouraged and we expect you to be indian,chinese.. first and than canadian
I could go on and on..

Everyone has said a lot of good points about Canada and the US, and it’s up to each person to decide what he/she likes better.
One point I don’t think anyone else mentioned is that pepper spray is illegal in Canada. You can’t get it. You also can’t carry a gun here, although some do.

No long story Calgary like Denver fly here in 2-3 hours. Have been known to host big sports events in Canada Olympics come to mind. Check out some web sites come for a visit winter or summer. You have more snow than we do(don’t tell anyone that’s a secret) For moving here start at Canadian Embassy Washington lots of info and the details on paperwork. For GBLT go to GBLT sites and enter Canadian cities for info. TravelCanada has vacation ideas or ParksCanada.

Have a look at the Immigration process. You’ll need a job or skill in demand inn Canada, work experience, good health, a clean criminal record and $ 11 000 to support yourself while you job hunt.

We treat Americans as normal members of our community as we treat people from all over the world.
